🥉Bank Holiday Lock Replacement & Continuing my gym visits.

The Observatory locks are over 20 years old now and our insurers have told us to replace the locks with BS Kitemarked ones. Little do they know what an evil task this is!

We’ve had to grind off the old escutcheon plate, cut out the old welded in locks, enlarge the holes to take the new Euro tumbler locks, and finally fit the locks.

Here’s one with a cast-off cylinder inside just for sizing purposes. We’re having custom cut escutcheon plates to cover the holes.

Getting this to fit took over an hour of drilling, grinding and cutting. All in sheet steel and steel section. Double skinned in places.

On Tuesday we will be heading into Sheffield to get the proper locks from a specialist locksmith, fully Kitemarked and with specially coded keys for high security.

It’s not done bad with the old locks though. The building opened on my 21st Birthday.

I was a gym bunny earlier too. A fair session. I’ve been evaluated by them and I’m not too bad to be honest. I’m just carrying too much fat. A good schedule of cardio a few times a week and I should get that to drop off. I showed the gym instructor this image and he couldn’t believe it was the same person!

Here’s the results from my watch. The exercise bike was actually 28 minutes – I forgot to start it going!

I’ve got to say I’m cracking the empirical elliptical trainer now.
