Band on the Rocks by Michael Upton

A ROCK band’s dream tour was in ruins this week after thieves stole guitars and hi-tech equipment worth more than £6,000 in a late-night raid.
The band, called Crimes of Passion, are due to fly to Norway for a headline tour promoting their new album, having just returned from playing to crowds of up to 20,000 across Europe.
But now the band, whose guitarist and bass player live in Rotherham, may have to pull the plug on their trip after the theft from their rehearsal room near the Don Valley Stadium.
Guitarist Andy Lindsay, who lives in Kimberworth, said: “This has left us all high and dry after the great experience of the last two months on tour.
“It’s ironic that our equipment has travelled safely all over Europe and it’s stolen almost as soon as we get home.”
Andy and his bandmates had only returned the gear to the rehearsal room at Amalgam Park, Tinsley Park Road, a few days before it was stolen. It included a hi-tech switching system, effects pedals and a Yamaha bass guitar. The theft was discovered on Sunday morning.
Now the band, whose bass player Simon Fearn lives in Maltby, are appealing to music shops to help them find replacements to save the week-long Norwegian tour.
Among the items stolen were a Ritchie Blackmore Signature E 650 guitar head amplifier with serial number 225095, a TC Electronic G System guitar pedalboard/switching system with serial number 6534007 and a Yamaha TRB-5 bass guitar in trans-black finish with gold hardware.
Several plugs, effects pedals, switches and leads were also stolen, along with Boss graphic equaliser.
Police have appealed to any witnesses, or anyone spotting the stolen equipment, to contact them on 0114 220 2020 quoting crime reference 529 of 31/08/2008. Andy can be contacted on ————-, ———— or by e-mail at andyaxis@googlemail.com.

Now you know why joining the Musicians Union was such a good idea for me… my gear is insured against this.
