Long Weekend Achievements Unlocked

It’s May Day weekend in the UK. That great socialist holiday hijacked by VE day celebrations too many times of late (not that I should whinger, VE day is my birthday!) but yesterday was the first day and I had a very chilled and enjoyable one.

Important things first though. The cat needed her daddy-daughter time. She was very forceful about the matter and so I obliged.

Dress code? Why it’s a bank holiday, so obviously leather! (faux leather on this occasion).

I’d already decided earlier in the day that a tram ride into Sheffield was required both to collect a new mouse (I had a very specific one in mind for my laptop setup) and to look at a retro game in CEX.

The first of these bore fruit and I now have a decent mouse for my setup. The second didn’t. The game didn’t impress me.

What did, and always does impress me though is “Extra Life Gaming Lounge” which is on Commercial Street in Sheffield. The place is lovely and has great hosts. I sat in there with my new laptop and focussed on setting up my audio channelling on the laptop so I can now use it for streaming if required. It works slightly differently to the desktop PC streaming setup (and indeed I may copy the setup across if it works well).

Whilst in Extra Life I also bought a couple of items. A Link tin with lemon sweets in it, and cross stitch badge of a mushroom from Mario with bisexual colours.

I may go again next weekend… It’d be lovely to do a Shiny Sunday from there some time in the future too!

The evening proved interesting too! A fire in a front garden just around the corner caused a full road closure of the bottom main road. Luckily nobody was injured, but the bay window was really badly damaged.
