Today has been a very strange day. Quiet, reflection, contemplation. It’s the end of a huge time of my life. I’ve made it to 49 years old with the same monarch and now I’m going to be saying “The King” and our national anthem suddenly changes to God Save The King.
This morning I had a cycle ride over to mum’s as the gym is closed, then in the afternoon I replaced a section of cable feeding our outside garden lights and connected it properly to the house electrical supply rather than via the old 3 pin plug.
Other than that I played a little Zelda and Lyra did pretty much nothing all day. But she’s a cat. That’s all they do.
The same here. Can’t claim to be a royalist, but the fact that she’s gone is a strange feeling, a break in continuity. Beatrix abdicated several years ago but I still catch myself thinking “oh right, we have a king”. The entire thing was aired live on tv here to. Caught bits and pieces of it. I found it moving when the regalia were removed from the coffin.
Yeah I’m not a royalist either, but I prefer having them to the alternative which is not even worth contemplating!
I am still saddened by the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.
